Winter is coming. (Who are we kidding: for many of us, it already has arrived!) Whether or not you’re ready for winter, your hair needs to be protected. Let’s prepare with five hair care tips that will help you get your tresses through the coldest time of the year.
With cold fronts come dry, brittle air. If moisturizers aren’t a part of your daily routine, be sure to incorporate them! Moisturizing can be anything from hairspray, oil, deep conditioner, or even dry shampoo. Trust me, your hair will love you for it.
Braids, weaves, wigs, twists, locs/locks, knots, crochet—you name it! These styles not only protect your natural hair, but they also allow you to slay the day and keep the heat away. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with protective styles!
Whether it be a bonnet, scarf or even pillowcase, silk keeps your hair bouncy, soft and ready for the day. Be sure to add this to your hair kit (if you haven’t already), and, while you’re at it, grab one for your actual BFF, too!
The more heat you add, the more damaged your hair can become. Haven’t we all heard this before? Even with hair extensions, there are heat-free knacks to keep them in good shape, including curling rods, braids (for crimps) and a simple brush-out with light oil for straight hair.
When seasons change, so does our hair color. Winter may be cold and dreary, but who says your hair has to be? Lock in a color that offsets the outdoors and become picture perfect for any occasion!
