‘Tis the season for protective styles, and we’re back with a list of “dos and don’ts” to help you stay on track with your healthy hair journey. So check out our list for box braids, wigs, weaves, twists and many more styles!

Do:

- Protect the hair with a satin bonnet

- Moisturize with a hairspray or oil 

- Use a paddle brush/comb for extensions 

- Wash with a sulfate-free shampoo 

- Air dry 

- Use heat tools sparingly

- Make sure the hair is covered

- Blend your hair if wearing leave out

Don’t:

- Sleep in wigs (unless sewn down)

- Blow or machine dry

- Leave your natural hair uncovered

- Put too much tension on the hair

- Leave the hair in/on too long

- Ignore your edges

- Forget the leave-in conditioner
